東京大学は、長年にわたりソウル国立大学校と台湾国立政治大学と共同で国際合同シンポジウムを続けてきました。今年度は東京大学が主催校となり、4年ぶりに対面で10月27日（金）に開催します。
今回は、「Mediating the World in the Digital Age: Politics and Culture of Technological Change」を全体テーマに掲げています。今日、ChatGPTなどのAI技術やデジタル化が進む社会のあり方が大きな問題となっており、メディア・情報・コミュニケーション・ジャーナリズム分野でも様々な議論が交わされています。今回のシンポジウムでは、私たちの生活と密接に関わる広義の科学技術について、技術的側面からだけでなく、政治的・社会的・文化的影響にも目を向け議論したいと考えています。
今年のシンポジウムでは、各大学より2名の教員および6～7名の大学院生が研究発表を行います。特に学生発表は、発表者とオーディエンスの間のより深いかつ活発な議論を促進するためにポスターセッション形式で行います。シンポジウムの後には懇親会も予定しておりますので、海外大学の教員・学生との交流の場としてもぜひご活用ください。

The University of Tokyo has co-organized international symposia in collaboration with Seoul National University in Korea and National Chengchi University in Taiwan for nearly three decades. This year, the University of Tokyo will be the host institution and will hold the symposium face-to-face for the first time in four years on October 27 (Fri).
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Mediating the World in the Digital Age: Politics and Culture of Technological Change.” Today, the expansion of AI technologies such as ChatGPT and the increasing digitization of our everyday lives have become controversial topics, raising debate among scholars in many fields, including media, information, communication, and journalism. At this symposium, we would like to discuss the multifaceted implications of technology broadly conceived by looking not only at its technical aspects but also at its political, social, and cultural dimensions.
Two faculty members and six to seven students from each university will present their research. To encourage fruitful and stimulating discussions, student presentations are organized in an interactive poster session format. There will be a reception after the symposium to provide opportunities to talk with other participants.
