2024日韓台シンポジウム “Human AI Communication”2024 UT-SNU-NCCU International Symposium: “Human AI Communication”
2024年10月17日、台湾国立政治大学（NCCU）キャンパスにて、日韓台シンポジウムが開催されました。東京大学大学院情報学環・学際情報学府、ソウル大学校社会科学大学言論情報学科、国立政治大学伝播学院から教員と学生が集い、「Human AI Communication」をテーマに議論を深めました。シンポジウムの開催地は山々に囲まれた美しい景色に恵まれ、人工知能（AI）と人間と複雑な関係について考える場となりました。
シンポジウムでは、AIがコミュニケーション、生産性、透明性、社会的責任にどのような影響を与えるかについて、教員と学生によるプレゼンテーションが行われました。各大学から二名ずつ教員が発表を行い、AIドッペルゲンガーの作成から、AIが生成したニュースのイメージの探求、ゲノム研究におけるAIの役割の検証、批評のリフレーミング、インターネットの安全リテラシー、ジェンダー化されたスマートホームの言説、メディア体験のデザインといった幅広いトピックが取り上げられました。これらの発表を通して、AIがコミュニケーションに与える影響について多角的な議論が展開されました。
さらに、三大学の学生による研究発表も行われ、AI主導の対話仮想環境でのプレイヤーの知覚に与える影響、VTuberと従来のアイドルの比較による日本のアイドル業界への生成AIの影響、建築設計におけるAIの役割など、幅広いテーマが取り上げられました。また、オンライン上での論争へのAIの介入や政治情報の受信や誤情報の検証、スマートヘルスケアにおける信頼性、平和教育のためのデジタルアーカイブの構築、ChatGPTを介した世代間コミュニケーションなどについても議論が行われました。AIエージェントにおける多次元的なアイデンティティ表現やAIによる音声クローニングが個人のアイデンティティに与える影響、AIが行動や内発的動機づけ、社会的認知に与える影響、特に広告やジェンダー表現に与える影響についても発表が行われました。
翌10月18日に行われたフィールドトリップでは、台湾のAR（拡張現実）テック企業Speed 3Dを訪問しました。同社のコンピュータ・ビジョン、グラフィックス、機械学習、ARに関する取り組みについて詳しく説明を受け、顔認識、人体解析、画像処理、画像生成といった中核技術のデモンストレーションも体験しました。こうした体験は、AIがもたらす技術革新について理解を深めると同時に、AI社会が内包する様々な課題についても考えさせられる機会となりました。
このシンポジウムを通じ、技術的・社会的変化が急速に展開する社会について理解を深めるための国際交流の重要性が再認識されました。次回のシンポジウムは、韓国のソウル大学が主催校となり、メディアと文化の変化をテーマに、新しい文化形態や実践、それらが社会に与える広範な影響について議論する予定です。

修士課程のときにも参加した日韓台シンポジウムに、今回再び参加できたことを大変嬉しく思います。3つの大学から異なる分野の研究者と学術的な議論を交わし、多くの貴重なアドバイスをいただきました。また、自分の研究を新たな視点から捉える良い機会にもなりました。コロナ禍でなかなか「大学の外の場（しかも海外で！）」での発表の機会が減っていたなか、今回のシンポジウムは非常に有意義な経験となりました。台湾のみなさんの温かいおもてなしにも心より感謝申し上げます。ありがとうございました。

学際情報学府を志望するきっかけの一つであった日韓台シンポジウムに参加でき、光栄に思います。初めての国際シンポジウムで緊張しましたが、ご担当の先生方の温かいご指導やご支援のおかげで無事に発表を終えることができました。同じアジアの三大学の学生たちと「AIと人間、コミュニケーション」という関心の高いテーマについて貴重な学びの場を持つことができ、視野が広がりました。発表後に学生や先生方からいただいたフィードバックや、シンポジウムを通して得られた新たな人とのつながりを今後の研究に活かしていきたいです。最後に、発表に向けて親身にサポートをしてくださった諸先生方、温かく接してくださった参加者の皆さんに心から感謝申し上げます。

今回、私は初めて海外で学会に参加しました。当初は大変緊張していましたが、韓国・台湾の学生がフレンドリーに話しかけてくださりリラックスして挑むことができました。研究に関する話題はもちろん、普段の学生生活や、それぞれの文化に関する話題もシェアできて新しい価値観に触れるいい機会になりました。彼らにいただいたアドバイスを元に、研究をより多角的な視点から取り組んでブラッシュアップしていき、また来年以降も積極的に参加したいと思います。そして、学会に向けて献身的に沢山準備をしてくださった先生方やNCCUのオーガナイザーの方に感謝申し上げます。

初めての海外および英語での発表ということで非常に緊張しましたが、自分の課題や今後の取り組むべき方向性が明確になり、大変貴重な経験となりました。テーマは「AI」でしたが、同じテーマでも様々な切り口やアプローチがあり、他の学生の発表を聞くことも非常に興味深く、また高い研究レベルにも驚かされました。発表後には台湾や韓国の学生から声をかけてもらい、それぞれの視点からの意見をもらえたことも、今後の研究に大いに活かしていきたいと思います。最後に、今回の発表に向けてサポートくださった先生方、参加者の皆様に、改めて感謝申し上げます。ありがとうございました。

The 2024 UT-SNU-NCCU Symposium marked an exciting opportunity for in-person academic exchange, held at the National Chengchi University (NCCU) campus in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 17, 2024. Faculty and students from three prestigious institutions – the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at UTokyo, the Department of Communication at Seoul National University (SNU), and the College of Communication at National Chengchi University (NCCU) – gathered to explore this year’s theme, “AI-Human Communication.” The location provided a picturesque setting, surrounded by mountains, inspiring reflection and engagement on the intricate dynamics between artificial intelligence (AI) and human interaction.
The event featured presentations from faculty and students on how AI impacts communication, productivity, transparency, and social responsibility. Faculty presentations, led by two representatives from each university, delved into diverse AI-related topics, including creating AI doppelgangers, exploring AI-generated imagery in news and examining AI’s role in genome research, critique reframing, internet safety literacy, gendered smart home discourses, and media experience design. These sessions sparked in-depth discussions on the implications of AI in various communication processes.
The symposium also included paper presentations by students from the three universities, covering an extensive range of topics, such as AI-driven dialogues affecting players’ perceptions in virtual environments, the impact of generative AI on Japan’s idol industry through a comparison of VTubers and traditional idols, and AI’s influence on architectural design thinking. Discussions also explored AI’s role in online conflict moderation, political information reception, misinformation verification, credibility in smart healthcare, the creation of digital archives for peace education, and intergenerational communication via ChatGPT. The presentations also examined multidimensional identity representation in AI agents, the impact of AI-driven voice cloning on identity, and AI’s effect on behavior, intrinsic motivation, and social perception, particularly in advertising and gender representation.
The field trip on October 18 brought participants to Speed 3D Inc., a prominent AR tech company in Asia and an official partner of Meta since 2017. This visit provided an in-depth look into the company’s work in computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, and augmented reality. The session explored Speed 3D’s approaches to AI-driven technologies, followed by a demonstration of their core innovations in facial recognition, human body analysis, image processing, and image generation. This experience also sparked reflection on the broader challenges and considerations that an AI-driven society entails.
These valuable exchanges are essential for fostering understanding in a world where technological and societal changes are unfolding rapidly. The next symposium will be hosted by SNU in South Korea and is expected to delve into the shifting landscape of media and culture, exploring new cultural forms, practices, and their broader societal impact.

Presenting my research on AI in the creative process—particularly how architects incorporate AI tools into their design practices—was a rewarding experience. The breadth of presentations from various disciplines, each delving into different aspects of AI-human interaction, was fascinating. The exchange of ideas and constructive feedback provided fresh insights that I am eager to apply to my work. The field trip was another highlight, offering exposure to real-world applications of AI and sparking further ideas for my research. The three-day 2024 UT-SNU-NCCU Symposium on AI and Human Communication was an unforgettable and inspiring experiences for me. It was a unique opportunity for me to present my research, “Exploring Human-AI Intimacy: Analyzing Personal Narratives through a Mixed Method Approach,” and more importantly to receive invaluable feedback from such a diverse group of researchers. It was also inspiring to engage with the researchers and see that so many people are thinking deeply about how AI can be more inclusive and supportive across various communities. The range of backgrounds and perspectives was amazing, which made every conversation enriching and insightful. We even discovered potential collaboration opportunities about which I am genuinely excited. Overall, the symposium was not only a platform for sharing research but also a vibrant space for building connections, exchanging ideas, and exploring how AI might shape our collective future.

Participating in the 2024 UT-SNU-NCCU Symposium has been an inspiring experience for me. Not only was I able to receive insightful comments on my co-research project, but I also benefited a lot from other people’s thought-provoking presentations on diverse, cutting-edge topics such as Smart Healthcare and internet safety literacy. These discussions encouraged me to refine my research focus and deepened my understanding of AI as a broader and more impactful concept. The experience during the Symposium reinforced my passion for exploring how technology impacts societies and sparked new ideas to further enhance my research scope. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to incorporating the valuable insights gained from the symposium into future projects.

Participating in the 2024 UT-SNU-NCCU Symposium has been an inspiring experience. Last year, I had the privilege of attending the symposium at UTokyo as an audience member, and the thought-provoking discussions left a lasting impression. This year, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to return as a presenter, where I introduced my research to students and faculty from all three universities. Although the time for discussion was limited, I had a private conversation with a student from Seoul afterward on the same topic. I was amazed by how the same subject can be interpreted differently across various cultural contexts. The exchange of ideas and the insightful feedback I received were truly invaluable. I will continue refining my research based on all the suggestions provided. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the faculty members and students who put their efforts into organizing this event and facilitating collaboration between the universities.
