情報学環は、社会のグローバル化のなかで、戦略的な国際連携を推進しています。
世界に拡がる研究者のネットワークを構築し、グローバル情報社会を先導する「知の運動体」をめざし、世界の最先端の情報学研究のグローバルな組織化を目指しています。
教育分野では、アジア情報社会コース（ITASIA）という、英語のみで学位が取得できるプログラムをもっており、世界中からの学生が学んでいます。
さらにソウル大学、国立政治大学をはじめ、長く研究パートナーシップを結んでいる諸大学と定期的にシンポジウムを開催したり、サマースクールを企画したりしています。こうした活動には学生にも積極的に関わってもらうのが特徴です。
このほか、内外の一流研究者を招いたり、海外への派遣事業に参加したりすることによって、最先端の情報学を学べるさまざまなイベントやワークショップを開催しています。また、国際的研究発信のためにWriting Support Deskを常設し、外国語で論文を書く学生や研究者たちへの支援も行っています。
情報学環はいま、日常の研究・教育活動の場が国際化しています。世界中の研究者や学生と楽しく、そしてときに厳しく学び合いながら、多様性を尊び、グローバルな使命を担って社会貢献することができる人材の育成に携わっています。
As a response to the increasingly globalized society, the International Initiative in Information Studies/Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies (III/GSII) is actively engaged in a range of international activities.
Its aim is to be a driving force for the creation of networks of scholars specialized in interdisciplinary information studies both in and outside Japan.
It also offers an English-medium education program known as ITASIA (Information, Technology and Society in Asia), where students from all over the world are pursuing advanced degrees. We also offer a series of lectures conducted in English across disciplines.
Moreover, III/GSII actively promotes international scholarly exchanges, including an annual symposium and summer programs with other major overseas universities and international organizations, including Seoul National University, with which we have formed a long-lasting international partnership. Both students as well as faculty actively participate in these activities.
In addition, III/GSII organizes numerous events and workshops for the study of advanced information studies, inviting leading scholars both from Japan and abroad.
We have also set up a writing support desk in order to facilitate publications of research results of our/its students and researchers so that our students and researchers can visit and consult for their publications easily.
Both the research and education of III/GSII are highly globalized.
III/GSII is committed to nurturing socially-committed and globally-minded scholars through promoting rigorous and respectful interactions of scholars and students from all over the world.
