東京大学制作展2025 Beginning「あることないこと」iii Exhibition 2025 Beginning “What Exists, What Does Not” Event Report
2025年7月4日（金）〜7日（月）の4日間、東京大学制作展2025 Beginning「あることないこと」を、情報学環オープンスタジオにて開催しました。東京大学制作展は、情報・メディアアート分野を専門とする教員の監修のもと、大学院学際情報学府の学生を中心に、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ学生たちが一から作り上げる、テクノロジーとアート・デザインの融合展です。
今回のBeginningは、これまでEXTRAとして親しまれてきた夏の制作展の名称を改めたものです。EXTRAは当初、11月に開催される本展を補完する位置づけでしたが、近年では新年度メンバーが初めて手がける展示としての意味合いが強まり、その出発点に込めた思いから「Beginning」と名付けました。
今回のコンセプトは「あることないこと」。 「あること」「ないこと」とは何か。その境目や、その外側には何があるのか——。私たちは、そんな問いに挑むべく、制作に取り組みました。
開催期間中は多くのお客様にご来場いただき、「ひとつひとつの作品に強いメッセージ性があり、大変興味深かった」といったありがたいお声もいただきました。11月の本展に向け、個々の作品に、そして展覧会全体としてもさらに磨きをかけてまいります。
最後に、制作展2025 Beginning「あることないこと」の開催にご協力くださったすべての皆さま、そしてご来場いただいた皆さまに、心より感謝申し上げます。

From Friday, July 4 to Monday, July 7, 2025, we held the University of Tokyo iii Exhibition 2025 Beginning, titled “What Exists, What Does Not,” at the Open Studio.
The University of Tokyo iii Exhibition fuses technology, art, and design created by students from diverse backgrounds (primarily from the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies) under the supervision of faculty members specializing in information and media art.
Many may be familiar with previous summer exhibitions held under the name “EXTRA.”These exhibitions were originally intended to complement the main exhibition held in November, but, in recent years, they have come to serve as the first exhibition led by new members. To reflect this shift, we renamed the exhibition “Beginning” to embody the spirit of a fresh start.
The concept for this exhibition was “What Exists, What Does Not.” What does it mean for something to exist or not exist? What lies at the boundary—or beyond it? We challenged these questions through our creative exploration.
Although this was a preliminary exhibition, we were fortunate to welcome many visitors during the exhibition period. We received encouraging comments such as: “Each work had a strong message, prompting reflection on what we take for granted in everyday life.” As we look ahead to the main exhibition in November, we will continue refining both the individual works and the exhibition as a whole.
Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the University of Tokyo Exhibition 2025 Beginning: “What Exists, What Does Not,” and to all those who visited.
