2023年10月21日（土）、東京大学ホームカミングデイトークセッション「コミュニケーションを再起動せよ」が開催されました。多彩な分野で活躍する、情報学環・学際情報学府に縁のある3人のゲストが登壇し、学環・学府で得た学びと現在の仕事との関係性、テーマである「コミュニケーション」をめぐり活発な議論が交わされました。
山内祐平学環長による挨拶の後、ノンフィクション作家で現在学際情報学府博士課程に在籍されている河合香織さん、学際情報学府修士課程を修了後エッセイストや小説家として活躍されている鈴木涼美さん、組織におけるファシリテーションを専門に情報学環特任助教を務める安斎勇樹さんが登壇し、トークセッションがはじまりました。
セッションでは、それぞれの異なる立場で「コミュニケーション」に関わる三者が、開沼博准教授のコーディネートのもと、コミュニケーションの可能性／不可能性についてトークを展開しました。COVID-19によって顕在化された分断をいかにコミュニケーションによって乗り越えていくのか、コロナ禍で揺れる政治の現場を取材した河合さん、企業内で問題を共有するファシリテーションを行う安斎さん、単純な二項対立ではない視点を小説という形で提示した鈴木さんにより、三者三様の経験をもとに議論が展開されました。
本イベントに先立ち、同月17日にはプレイベント「学環学府を読む！読書会」が開催されていました。その参加学生による登壇者への質疑応答の時間もありました。創造性とはなにか、言葉を生み出す際に第一人称を使うか第三人称を使うかで何が変るか、専門家と非専門家間など立場が異なる人同士のコミュニケーションがいかに可能かとったテーマをめぐり、ゲストの方々も交えて意見が交わされました。
今回のイベントは前年に引き続き対面とオンラインのハイブリッドで開催されました。対面では68名、オンライン配信では最大50名をこえる参加があり、渡邊英徳教授の閉会の挨拶にて盛況のうちに締めくくられました。

On October 21st, 2023, III/GSII hosted a talk session for the University of Tokyo Homecoming Day under the title “Reboot Communication”. Three guest speakers with connections to the III and active in a variety of fields took the podium for a lively discussion on the theme of communication.
After the opening remarks by Prof. Yuhei Yamauchi, the three guests who spoke were Kaori Kawai, a nonfiction writer, Suzumi Suzuki, now working as an essayist and novelist, and Yuki Anzai, a research assistant professor specializing in facilitation in organizations while managing his own company.
During the session, the three guests, each of whom are involved in a different form of “communication,” discussed the possibilities/impossibilities of communication as manifested by COVID-19, moderated by Associate Prof. Hiroshi Kainuma. They discussed what they had learned in the GSII, the impact of bringing people from different disciplines together in the same place, and how communication can overcome the divisions created by COVID-19, based on their own research and experiences.
Prior to this event, a pre-event “Reading the III!” was held on the 17th of the same month. There was also time for students attending to participate in a Q&A session with the speakers. Guests exchanged opinions on topics such as creativity, whether the use of the first or third person in creating words makes a difference, and how communication between people in different positions, such as between specialists and non-specialists, is possible.
As in previous years, this year’s event was hybrid: about 68 people participated in person and more than 50 participated online. The event closed on a high note with closing remarks by Prof. Hidenori Watanave.
