【情報学環教育部】コロナ禍明けで活気づく教育部の新年度Face-to-face activities resume one after another in the Undergraduate Research Student Program
新年度を迎えた情報学環教育部では、コロナ禍により中止やオンライン化していた行事が次々と復活し、さらに新たなイベントも加わるなど、研究・懇親活動盛りだくさんのなかで研究生がお互いの交流を深めながら学んでいます。
4月22日には、「新入生歓迎会」を2019年以来4年ぶりに対面形式で開催し、今年度入学した74期生と上級生合わせて35人が参加しました。ここでは教育部の1年間の流れについて説明があったほか、工夫を凝らした懇親企画も行われ、打ち解けた研究生たちの間で笑顔が広がりました。また、停滞していた在学生と同窓生間の交流の再活発化に向けて、近年では初めて同窓会の方々が出席されました。教育部29期生であり、読売新聞欧州総局長や日本記者クラブ専務理事を務められた土生修一同窓会会長をはじめ5名の先輩方が、新入生へのお祝いの言葉や教育部時代のエピソードなどを話されました。
研究生の発表や懇親の機会をより充実させるため、5月20日から21日にかけては今年度より初めて試みる「新歓合宿」を秋川渓谷のキャンプ場で開催し、研究生ら30人が参加しました。 合宿1日目に行われた自主ゼミ研究テーマ発表会では、15人の研究生が28本のテーマ候補をプレゼンし、発表時間は合計約6時間に及びました。内容はメディア論から防災まで幅広く、質問や議論も絶えず、大盛況となりました。参加者で賑わったコテージ内は終始活気にあふれ、コロナ禍明けを象徴する光景が広がりました。
合宿に参加した研究生のひとりは「発表は分野だけでなく視点も多様で、教育部の異種混淆性を改めて感じました。自分の専攻に関する斬新な意見もあり、研究のアイデアを得ることができました。研究生の自律的研究を重んじる教育部の環境を活かして、さっそく挑戦してみたいと思います。」と今後への期待を話していました。

The new academic year has seen a flurry of research and social activities in the Undergraduate Research Student Program, with a number of events that had been cancelled or put online due to the pandemic being revived, in addition to some new events.
On April 22, a welcome party was held on-site to celebrate the 74th class of students who entered the program this year, with a total of 35 new and senior students taking part. It is the first time in four years that the welcome party was held in a face-to-face format. The party served as an introduction session to the program to facilitate mutual acquaintance among the research students. For the first time in recent years, guests from the alumni association attended the event. Five alumni, including Shuichi Tsuchio, a former Europe Bureau Chief of the Yomiuri Shimbun and managing director of the Japan Press Club, congratulated the new students and shared episodes from their time in the program.
To provide more opportunities for research students to give presentations and get to know each other, a newly established spring study camp was held for two days from May 20 in the Akigawa Valley, attended by 30 research students. On the first day of the camp, 15 research students gave presentations on 28 potential research themes for a total of about six hours. The content ranged from media theory to disaster prevention, and the event was a great success, with many questions raised and extensive discussion. The two days were lively from start to finish, as if to symbolize the end of the pandemic.
“The presentations were diverse, not only in terms of fields but also in terms of viewpoints, and I was reminded of the heterogeneous nature of this program,” said a research student who took part in the camp, adding that she also received comments which helped her gain new ideas for her research. “I would like to take advantage of the environment of this program, which values the autonomous research of research students,” she said.
