2019年 留学生旅行 「千葉・成田山新勝寺と房総のむら」GSII Tour 2019 “Naritasan Shinshoji Temple & Boso-no-Mura Experience Museum, Chiba”
11月9日（日）朝9時、留学生22名と教職員3名は、貸切バスで日帰り旅行に出発しました。今回の目的地は成田山新勝寺と千葉房総のむら。少し冷え込む中、バスに乗り込み東大から出発しました。
東大から1時間半かけて成田山新勝寺に到着した後、ガイドの方の案内に沿って境内を歩きました。釈迦堂や光明堂にてガイドの方に質問を投げかけることもあるなど、学生も熱心に新勝寺の歴史を知ろうとしていました。また、時間に少し余裕が出来たため、予定していなかった庭園散策も行われました。ぶらりと歩いていると、たまたま湖の畔で琴の演奏が披露されており、学生たちも興味津々で写真を撮ったり演奏に聞き入っていたりしていました。総門の前で集合写真を撮って少し休憩した後、ランチとして魚介を中心とした和食を美味しく頂きました。
食事後に新勝寺の表参道を各々自由に散策し、その後バスで千葉房総のむらへ移動しました。ここで二班に分かれて武家屋敷にて茶の湯体験をしました。招き猫の形をした落雁の写真を撮って楽しんだり、正座をしていて脚がしびれてしまったり、茶の湯の作法に自分なりにトライしてみたりするなど学生によって反応は様々でした。一方の班が茶の湯体験をしている間、もう一方の班は江戸時代の町並みを思わせる房総のむらの敷地内を自由に見て回っていました。房総のむらを去るとき、仲良くなった学生同士で自撮りをしていたり、歓談していたりして、学生の距離がより縮まっていました。
午後3時に帰路につき、大きな渋滞に巻き込まれることもなく、予定よりも早めに東大に到着しました。そして和気藹々とした雰囲気の中解散しました。普段交流の無い学生達が勉学を離れてネットワークを作ることができ、それぞれに楽しい思い出のできた充実の一日でした。
事後アンケートでも、すべての参加者が「大変満足」または「満足」と回答しており、「茶の湯体験が楽しかった」「成田山新勝寺に行くことが出来て良かった」といった声が多く寄せられて、今回のバス旅行が有意義な体験になったことが分かります。

Twenty-two international students and three faculty members joined the tour by hired bus to see sights in Chiba Prefecture, including Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and Boso-no-Mura Experience Museum, on the slightly chilly morning of November 9th.
After an hour and a half drive from Tokyo, the group arrived at Naritasan Shinshoji in the city of Narita. They then took part in a guided walking tour of the temple grounds. The students showed great interest and asked the guide many questions about the temple and its history. They also had time for a walk in the temple gardens, where by chance a performance of traditional music on the koto was taking place. After a group photo in front of the temple gates, the participants enjoyed a lunch consisting mostly of Japanese seafood dishes.
After lunch and some time for individual exploration of the approach road to Shinshoji, the participants re-boarded the bus and drove to Boso-no-Mura. The tour then divided into two smaller groups to experience different parts of the museum. While one group was taking part in Japanese tea ceremony, the other group was exploring the outdoor part of the museum which recreates the scenery of a Japanese town in the Edo era. By visiting the museum together, the students were able to become more acquainted with each other, and much lively conversion ensued.
Thanks to favorable traffic conditions, the tour arrived back at the university campus in good time. It ended in a very positive mood, having provided an opportunity for students to interact in an environment different from their usual encounters in the classroom.
In a survey conducted after the event, all the students responded that they were either “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the tour. The event’s significance was further confirmed by positive comments from the participants, such as “The tea ceremony experience was enjoyable” and “I am glad to have been able to visit Naritasan Shinshoji”.
