On February 13, 2019, a symposium commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the DNP Academic Digital Content Research Project was held at Ishibashi Memorial Hall in the Daiwa Ubiquitous Computer Research Building.The DNP Project hosting the symposium was established in the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies by a donation from DNP (Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.) in 2015 and entered its second term in November 2018.

In the first half of the symposium, Project Professor Yoshio Yanagi reported on the results of the project over the three years and future issues. He introduced activities of the DNP Project, including the “Project for utilization of academic microcontent teaching materials”, which considers how to create and utilize digital teaching materials, the “Local paper digitization/utilization Project”, and the “Beyond Book Project”, which explores new digital contents and structure design to exploit the characteristics of digital network functions in addition to distribution and retail models.

In the second half, a panel discussion related to digital archives was held. Professor Shunya Yoshimi from the host institution and five experts in various fields related to the digital archive actively discussed such topics as the present state of the legal system related to the digital archive, the importance of archives constructed by citizen participation, and the digital archive from the macro viewpoints of country and industry.

After a lively question and answer session between the audience and the panelists, the symposium came to a successful conclusion.
