東大（UT）＋政大（NCCU）国際共同シンポジウムNCCU and UT Joint Symposium on journalism and communication education
2016年12月2日、台湾の国立政治大学コミュニケーション学部との共同シンポジウムが台北市の同大学で開催されました。政治大学コミュニケーション学部は、コミュニケーションやジャーナリズム研究では台湾随一の規模と高水準を誇り、現在3学科と1プログラムが学部・大学院課程にそろっていて、さらに英語のみを使う修士課程のコースがあります。
今回の合同研究会は、同学部の許瓊文 (Chiung-wen Julia HSU) 教授が学環CIDIRの田中淳教授のもとに半年滞在していたのが御縁で実現したものです。学環側からは水越伸教授、ITASIAコース博士課程の林意仁くんと私・学環長が、政治大からは林元輝 (Yuan-huei LIN) 学部長、陳儒修 (Ru-shou CHEN) 副学部長を含む6名の教員と学生10名ほどが参加しました。
小規模な研究会でしたが、それゆえに密度の濃い意見交換が交わされ、大変有意義でした。両者の今後の交流を、さらに発展させていければと思います。

政治大学コンミュニケーション学院との交流活動の感想（林意仁さん）
政治大学コミュニケーション学院は、台湾で一流のジャーナリズム／コミュニケーション研究・教育機関として知られています。今回、私は政治大学の卒業生、学府の現役院生として共同シンポジウムに参加でき、とても光栄に思っています。
政治大学の先生たちは、学環・学府との交流を非常に大事にされています。学院長である林元輝先生ほか、各教育プログラムのチェアも全員出席し、佐倉学環長と水越先生とも熱い議論を交わされていました。近年、政治大学コミュニケーション学院では、着任した教員たちが様々な学問分野を専門にする傾向にあります（映画研究、地理学、土木工学、アニメ研究、美術、人類学など）。これは言い換えると、政治大学でも情報学環と同様に、「学際的」な研究に向かっているということになります。
政治大学と情報学環は、お互いに共通したものも多く、これからもより深い協力関係が期待できます。私個人としても、そのパートナーシップの力になれればと思っています。
A joint symposium was held with Interfaculty Initiative and College of Communication, National Cehngchi University, Taiwan, on 2 December 2016, at that College. CoC of NCCU is the biggest and the highest level in that field in Taiwan with three departments and a program for both undergraduate and post-graduate courses. They also are providing an international course for master’s degree, in which all activities are managed in English.
This symposium was realized by the effort of bridging by Professor Chiung-wen Julia HSU of NCCU, who stayed at CIDIR, III, for several months as a visiting scholar hosted by Prof. Atsushi TANAKA. From III participated were Prof. Shin MIZUKOSHI, Mr. Yi-Ren LIN at ITASIA, and I (OS, Dean), while were six faculties and more than ten students from CoC, NCCU, including Dean Yuan-huei LIN and Associate Dean Ru-shou CHEN.
The gathering was not large in amount, but its intimate atmosphere caused more dense and fruitful discussion. We shared a lot of ideas and perspectives, which should be developed further in future.

Visiting College of Communication, NCCU (Taiwan) by LIN Yi-Ren
In Taiwan, the College of Communication at National Chengchi University (NCCU) has long been considered the leading research and educational institute in the field of journalism and communication studies. Therefore, as a former student of NCCU and a current graduate student at GSII, UTokyo, I was very delighted to be able to participate in the joint symposium and to see the further development of the partnership between the two schools.
In the joint symposium, the NCCU side showed much interest in co-working with GSII; not only the Dean, but all the chairs and program directors of the College attended the event, and they actively engaged in discussions with Dean Sakura and Prof. Mizukoshi. Another thing worth noting is that, by looking at the newly-recruited faculty members in the past few years (whose final degrees are in the fields of film studies, geography, civil engineering, animation studies, fine arts, and anthropology), it is clear that the college is transforming from a journalism- / communication-centered school to a more interdisciplinary one, which makes it more understandable for GSII to have further co-operations with NCCU.
To sum up, given the subjective good will as well as the institutional similarities on both sides, one really looks forward to seeing more connections between the two schools in the future, and I personally will be happy to somehow contribute to this too.
