専門は世界史からみた近世・近代日本文化史、日中関係史、「知」の文化史、翻訳史、ソフトウェア文化史。現在取り組んでいるテーマは「20世紀日本の近世観」です。トランスナショナルな観点から、「江戸」という表象を越える、つまり国単位だけで理解しがたい、近世をめぐる様々な物語を明らかにしようとしています。
