ホームカミングデイHomecoming Day
10月20日（土）、東京大学ホームカミングデイの一環として情報学環ホームカミングデイを開催しました。企画は三部構成の講演会形式で、まず田中秀幸学環長より「学環学府の現状と未来」についての報告があり、次いで学環設立当初よりその運営に深く参画してきた石田英敬教授より「知のオデュッセイアのために」と題しほぼ20年にわたる学環学府の歴史を振り返る講演をいただきました。
三つ目の講演は、元教育部研究生で現在日本経済新聞社国際アジア部次長の川合智之さんに「大統領選挙とアメリカのジャーナリズム――オバマ・トランプを取材して」と題して、米国ワシントン支局時代のホワイトハウスでの取材経験にもとづく豊富な実例を交えたお話しをいただきました。
集会後の懇親会では、学環学府での現在の活動を伝えるパネルや映像に囲まれる中、在学生、卒業生、教職員の交流が深められました。

On October 20, III/GSII held a faculty and alumni event at Fukutake Learning Theater as a part of the “Homecoming Day of The University of Tokyo.” The event consisted of three lectures. First, Prof. Hideyuki Tanaka, the dean of III/GSII, reported on “The Present and Future of III/GSII.” This was followed by a lecture titled “For the Odyssey of Knowledge,” in which Prof. Hidetaka Ishida, who has been deeply involved in the III/GSII since its inception, gave a retrospective speech on the almost 20-year history of the institution.
The third lecture “US Presidential Elections and American Journalism” was given by Mr. Tomoyuki Kawai from Nikkei, who is an alumnus of the Undergraduate Research Student Program in the Institute of Socio-Information and Communication Studies (III’s predecessor). Mr. Kawai informed us of the way in which journalists are doing their job in the White House, with abundant examples from his own experience there.
